Not a chance that Lowrance anything is easiest to use. I can't even begin to say how many times my very expensive Lowrance HD unit has just locked up the screen when I turn it on for no reason whatsoever. Hell, just figuring out how to set the range on this unit is a nightmare. I've never had a problem (not a single one) with any Hummingbird unit I've ever bought over 30 years and I on ly bought a Lowrance unit because they are compatible with my Hobie kayak. Seriously, Lowrance needs to find some new designers that know how to simplify and explain things. As a specific example, How the hell does the average person know how to place the temperature or any other icon on the unit if they don't know what "system overlay" even is? Lowrance makes many assumptions like this which are never adequately explained. I am not impressed- even with my Target 2 unit I don't catch any more fish and to me it's just a major distraction. Maybe with a huge screen but a 9" inch screen in forward mode only uses half the screen of my unit and it's very hard to see what's going on down there. I'll be impressed when one of these companies makes forward facing sonar that looks like an HD television. Until then it's not worth the $ to me.

I have a lvs 12 and it sucks only having either a front view or down view, maybe someone that has never used the higher end live scopes will get use to it’s limited view and like it.

I just bought this unit. I have a bass tracker 17.5.. if I mount the screen on the front deck and the transducer in the back won't the fish I see be behind me? Can I mount the transducer to the bottom of the trolling motor? Will it work correctly if I'm turning it back and forth..I am really confused

Really like it. A shame it doesn’t have sidescan though, if it did it would be a true “all in one” unit! But the pricepoint is awesome.

What is missing is a video on using the "settings/networks" screen to set up HDS unit to the S3100 and AI transducer. Dealing with the "call center"/ product support is not fun and a waste of time. I finally got it done (hit and miss) using Lowrance's very generic video on networking units. I love the Genesis Live feature and I am happy with my unit's higher frequency now.

Wait... so Lowrance released the Eagle Eye 9, and this Recon trolling motor won't be compatible with it? That's so dumb. I'm trying to come up with an ecosystem for my boat and from all the videos/reviews I've seen and read about, Lowrance seems to be my first choice so far, but if the 2 newer models aren't even compatible, that's dumb.
